Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation

I recently got my hands on a sample of the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation. Considering that full price this stuff is like liquid gold retailing at £29.50, I thought it would be useful to do a review on the sample before any serious bank damage is made...

The foundation comes in 15 shades which gives some versatility and hopefully if should be easy to find a shade which suits your skin tone. I got mine sent in shade 2 - Fair as my skin is a really pale tone. I find it difficult to find a shade that matches, even when I've been properly matched at a make-up counter, so I wasn't sure what to expect in terms of the shade.

It has SPF15 which is a must when you're spending that much on a foundation. I believe that SPF is an important element of a foundation so that it provides protection as well as coverage.

The result? I'm really impressed! For once I've sampled a foundation and actually been pleased which is a rarity for me. The shade is a suitable match which I find difficult in all foundations, whether they are cheap or expensive. This one is a lovely porcelain colour that doesn't make my skin look orange. The coverage is even and it covers blemishes well without caking the skin.

Here are some before and after pics I took before work. As it was very early in the morning when I took these photos bear in mind that it is artificial lighting rather than natural light:

Before application of foundation

After application of foundation

Me pulling faces afer makeup is complete!

Definitely worth trying if you're looking for a new foundation and willing to pay the price. Although I think it is a foundation that actually does its job and not only that, does its job well, I'm not sure if I'm willing to spend that much on a foundation just yet.

Perhaps a birthday present idea...? :P

Have any of you tried this foundation? What were your thoughts?

What's in my make-up bag? - The Essentials

When I am awake at the crack of dawn for work (pinning my eyes open with match sticks) I aim to get my make-up done in under 15 minutes. This is a challenge for make-up lovers like me but I promise it is possible! I have compiled a list of make-up essentials for getting ready super quick! These are the products I could not live without. Take a peek at what essentials I keep in my make-up bag.

Yes. This is a Zoella product. No. I am not a teenage girl who obsesses over her. BUT I love guinea pigs! And the fact it has glasses on makes me laugh. It's the simple things in life... Anyway, I do love this case mainly because it is the perfect size. I can fit a load of stuff in here but it's not too big to travel with. It also has a plastic outside so it can easily be wiped clean.

Mascara is a must in any make-up bag. I think it's the most important product when it comes to make-up. This one is the Maybelline Lash Sensational and it's the best mascara I've used to date! Read my full review here.

If you've been a reader of my blog for a while you will know that I love this foundation. It's the only foundation I've found that is pale enough for my skin tone. When I'm in a rush I'll just dab a few spots of this all over my face and blend it in with a brush for a light even coverage.

Out of the many brushes I own I've chosen the two most essential to my collection. The expert face brush is excellent for blending foundation and concealer into the face without creating any lines. And this big fluffy powder brush is great for swirling round in face powder and provides fast application.

Eyeshadow

I always have some kind of eyeshadow in my essentials bag. For fast application I'll usually just dab a little on my fingertip and apply it straight to my eyelid.

Powder is great for just mattifying the face especially if you have oily skin. I like to apply a light dusting just to set my make-up. I always follow up with a bit of blusher for that pretty touch!

What are your essential makeup bag items?
