April 2015 Favourites

What I've been loving this month...

VO5 Nourish my Shine – Miracle Illuminator - £3.99 Buy HERE

This is a heat defence which helps to smooth the hair and make it appear more shiny. It has a fine shimmer to reflect the light to give the illusion of shinier hair. It can be applied to wet or dry hair and I like to use this on dry hair to smooth it out and get rid of any frizz. It also smells good which is a bonus.

Rimmel nail polish 60 Seconds Super Shine By Rita Ora - £2.99 Buy HERE

Left: Rain Rain Go Away 498   Middle: Sweet Retreat 270   Right: Roll In The Grass 878

These are hands down one of the best nail varnishes I have ever used from the drugstore. The colour pay off is amazing and it lasts for so long. I can have this nail varnish on for over a week and it has barely chipped! Add in the cheap price and it just makes this product more admirable.

My hair can be quite frizzy and unmanageable. And I have been searching and searching for a miracle product which would tame my mane. I thought it didn't exist until I found this product! I smooth it over my towel dried hair and let my hair dry naturally and it feels SOOOOOO smooth and silky! It's available at Home Bargains and Boyes. I got this as a Christmas present so I'm not sure how much it is but I know its very cheap, definitley under a fiver. Which is amazing value for this miracle product! When I don't use it I notice a big difference in how my hair feels and looks.

TV – Poldark
During revision I like to watch something in the evening before bed to take my mind off law haha. I stumbled across this on BBC iplayer and instantly fell in love. I adore dramas like this. Poldark is so dreamy too... cant wait for series 2!

Makeup Revolution: Redemption Palette Hot Smoked

Purchase at...Superdrug or Makeup Revolution

I've heard a lot of good reviews about these palettes and so I thought it was my time to try one out. I opted for the Redemption Palette Hot Smoked as there are lots of deep dark and sultry colours to choose from which is a little different from what I've owned before. It also has a mix between shimmer and matte shades which is a nice aspect of the palette allowing for more option.

I already own two Makeup Revolution individual eyeshadow shades (see in post HERE) which I use regularly and the pigment is amazing and totally worth the bargain of a £1 each. So I kind of already knew what to expect from this palette; amazing colour/pigment pay-off for an amazing price. The palette is £4 for 12 shades which is an absolute steal!

6 shades from the left of the palette.

6 shades from the right of the palette.

I also have some Makeup Revolution lipsticks, primer and makeup setting spray to review so stay tuned! This is definitely a brand I see myself going back to for some brilliant products for less than a fiver a piece!

Product Review: Nivea in shower body moisturiser

About a year ago, first hearing about this product, I signed up for some free sachet testers. After using the testers I kind of forgot about the product until recently when I came across the full sized bottle and decided to give it a proper test.

This product shouts convenience to any of you that are lazy like me and most days can't be bothered to spend 10 minutes moisturising the whole body after a shower/bath. Instead you slap this on all over in the shower and wash it straight off. Voilà! Smooth and moisturised skin in less than 5 minutes! Or so the bottle boasts...

I found this product did not work for me at all. I did notice that once coming out of the shower my skin did feel slightly smoother to touch, but I think that is just the bit of residue left behind. But it doesn't actually moisturise. There is nothing actually on the bottle that says this is hydrating. Recently, a small dry patch of skin has appeared on my hip. The Skin Conditioner did nothing to make it go away whereas as soon as I switched to a balm bursting with essential oils and natural butters it was gone within days. It didn't particularly smell nice. And for the size of the bottle I got through it really quick. You have to use quite a bit of product. If I had bought the smaller bottle I predict I would have used it all within days.

My verdict? I wont be purchasing again... BUT if you have normal skin and just want it a bit more smooth to touch then this might be worth a try for days where you don't have time or the patience to moisturise the body dry. However, if your skin is dry and in need of extra hydration and moisture, this product is not for you. I love other Nivea products but this did not work for me.

Have any of you tried this product? What were your thoughts?

FOTD: Purple eyes!

Sorry for not posting recently. I was home and I don't have access to fast internet so it wasn't worth trying to post and ripping my hair out with fury in the process... Anyway, I'm back with a quick FOTD. You can achieve this look easily with 3 shades for the eyes: mauve, lilac and black. I paired the eyes with a berry lip to finalise the purple theme! I also wore a purple dress aha. I use this look frequently if I want a pop of colour but not something too 'out there'. I'm only going to list what I used on my eyes and lips as for my face I just replicated the same routine and used the same products which can be seen on my FOTD with brown eyes (HERE).

What I used (links on the name of product where possible):

EYES

- e.l.f Baked Eyeshadow – shade unknown but any deep plum will do (used in the crease)

- L'Oreal Perfection Crea Couleur – Shantung Black – I bought this from a market for less than £1... but again any black will do (used in outer portion of crease)

- e.l.f Eybrow Kit – Medium

LIPS
- Barbra Daly Lip Melts Sheer Lip Colour – Pure Plum - These are from the Tesco make-up range
