Elegant Touch Nails

Up until recently I never would have considered fake nails.

The thought of having something glued to my nail made me feel uneasy and I'm not good with natural long nails so nevermind fake ones. But last year I thought it would be nice to try something different so I bought some Elegant Touch express nails which are pre-glued. You just press them on... and hey presto, instant beautiful nails which can last up to 1 week! Or so the packaging claims. NO. These do NOT last 1 week. They don't even last one evening. I did not get on with these at all. Yes they are very easy to apply, but they just fall off so easy. And they get stuck in my hair. I know that sounds odd... but the gap between my nail and cuticle would get stuck in my hair resulting in me having to rip chunks out of my head.

So, I thought I'd given up hope of trying fake nails. If I can not get on with pre-glued ones how on earth will I be able to use glue on ones?! But of course I just can't resist pretty things and when I saw some Elegant Touch nails I liked I bit the bullet and bought them. And I love them! These do last up to 1 week and if you are lucky maybe more. The glue on nails don't get stuck in my hair as the transition from cuticle to nail is extremely thin.

The only part of fake nails I don't like is taking them off. You have to soak your nails in artificial nail remover for around 25 minutes until the nail dissolves off. I just don't like this because soaking my fingers in harsh chemicals for half an hour can not be good for my skin... Anyway, I use the Elegant Touch GET 'EM OFF remover which really works.

Lots of people say that wearing fake nails will completely ruin your natural ones. When I take the nails off my natural nails are actually ok. They aren't in amazing condition but they are not ruined. The only thing which annoys me is that there are bits of stubborn glue on my natural nails which won't budge! When I have removed my nails I will wait at least a week before I apply artificial nails again. However, if you are worried about ruining your nails you can purchase adhesive tabs instead of using glue. I like to use the Nailene Ultra Adhesive tabs

Here are a few photos of the nails I have been wearing...

I have also bought some Superdrug own fake nails which I look forward to trying out!

I painted these with my own nail varnish. The nail varnish I used was a nude one from Miss Selfridge which came in a makeup set my friend got me for Christmas :) I do really like this colour. When I first applied them I used a couple of nail art stickers as shown in the first photo. However, I think I prefer the nails just plain.

The first Elegant Touch nails I tried were these French Manicure ones:

Recently I bought these Elegant Touch nails and I can't wait to try them out!
